0656 FLOOR SANDING AND FINISHING - OIL SYSTEM

1. GENERAL

1.1 Scope

Supply and application of a penetrating / modified plant-based oil finish to prepared timber floors. The finish shall be Bona Craft Oil 2K (oil-modified-2k).

1.3 Compliance and certification

Bona Craft Oil 2K holds: GREENGUARD; EN 71-3 Toy Safety (EN 71-3 compliance - Bona Craft Oil 2K Neutral); DIBt Indoor Air Quality (DIBt Indoor Air Quality Approval (via R778 Hardener)); DIN 51130 Ramp Slip Resistance (Anti-slip properties test certificate (DIN 51130 ramp R-rating)).

2. PRODUCTS

2.1 Oil finish

Product: Bona Craft Oil 2K.

Chemistry: oil-modified-2k.

VOC: 25 g/L.

Colour: as per architect's selection from the manufacturer's colour chart (Bona Craft Oil 2K Colour Chart PDF).

Mixing (where 2K): per manufacturer ratio; pot life observed strictly.

2.2 Substrate compatibility

Substrate not nominated; verify species compatibility against the Bona species x primer matrix before tender.

3. EXECUTION

3.1 Preparation

Final sanding P120 maximum (oversanding prevents oil penetration). Vacuum thoroughly. Do not water-pop unless specified by the product TDS.

3.2 Application

Apply 1 x Craft Oil 2K (2nd application on absorbent species) at 30.0 m2/L m2/L per coat using buffer, red-pad or stainless trowel per TDS. Work wet-on-wet within the open time stated on the label. Buff to an even sheen; remove all excess oil to prevent surface tack.

3.3 Cure and handover

Light use after 2-4 hours. Full use after 24 hours minimum. Full cure (for floor coverings and heavy traffic) after 7 days. Do not wet-clean within 14 days.

3.4 Slip resistance

Where specified: R10 per DIN 51130 ramp test. Refer to attached test report PDF.
