0656 FLOOR SANDING AND FINISHING

1. GENERAL

1.1 Scope

This worksection covers supply and application of a factory-formulated waterborne clear coating system to prepared timber floors. The finish coat shall be Bona Traffic HD Raw (waterborne-2k, 2-component) at Ultra Matt sheen.

1.3 Compliance and certification

The finish shall hold the following current certificates, copies of which are submitted with the specification:

Bona Traffic HD Raw holds: GREENGUARD Gold; EMICODE EC1RPLUS; EMICODE EC1 Plus (GEV EC1 Plus (Eurofins test B54720-001-002)); GREENGUARD Gold (UL GREENGUARD Gold - Bona Traffic HD Raw); EN 13501-1 Reaction to Fire (EN 13501-1 Reaction to Fire Classification); AS/NZS 4586 Slip Resistance (ATTAR wet-pendulum, P3 rating (AS 4586)).

1.4 Sustainability targets

The specified finish meets the nominated project compliance targets: (none nominated).

2. PRODUCTS

2.1 Finish coat

Product: Bona Traffic HD Raw.

Chemistry: waterborne-2k.

VOC (max, incl. hardener where applicable): 52 g/L.

Solids content (approx.): 32.0%.

Gloss level (60deg): Ultra Matt.

Packaging: supplied in the manufacturer's original unopened containers with batch identification. Do not site-mix products from different batches without manufacturer concurrence.

2.2 Primer / sealer

Prime with Bona Classic UX (the manufacturer nominates this primer to maintain the most natural appearance under Bona Traffic HD Raw).

2.3 Substrate compatibility

Substrate not nominated; verify species compatibility against the Bona species x primer matrix before tender.

3. EXECUTION

3.1 Preparation

Sand to bare timber with progressive grits, final pass P120 or finer. Vacuum and tack-mop immediately prior to coating. Ambient conditions to be within the manufacturer's stated range: 18-25 degrees C, 30-60% RH, substrate moisture content within the WoodSolutions / TFIA range for the species and locale.

3.2 Coating system

Apply 1 primer + 2 x Traffic HD Raw OR 3 x Traffic HD Raw in accordance with the TDS and attached Specifier Paragraphs. Coverage rate 8.0-10.0 m2/L m2/L per coat. Recoat interval 2-3 hours minimum at 20 degrees C / 60% RH. Light sand P150 or finer between coats where the inter-coat window is exceeded.

3.3 Cure and handover

Light foot traffic from approximately 6 hours after final coat. Full use from 12 hours. Cover with carpet / rug no earlier than 3 days after final coat. Do not wet-clean for 7 days.

3.4 Slip resistance

Where specified: classified to AS/NZS 4586 at R9 (wet pendulum). Refer to attached test report PDF.
